Why are guys so persistent?

Yeah, this one is a no-brainer for a guy who has been there. Basically, it was hard for him to move on, and when he finally got to the point that he was willing to see other girls, he did, BUT he still cares for you very much as a friend and he didn't want it to seem like he had just been your friend because he liked you, so by giving you the rose he was trying to be sincere. He has just accepted the idea of you two being friends and moved on.
