Can soft food give cats worms?

I give my baby soft food everyday along with dry & a fresh bowl of water and she LOVES it. I love her so much that i went and bought her 24 cans of her special food and my mother did as well for her Christmas present (along with her toys of course). Well, my boyfriends cousin is saying "You don't give cats soft food, it gives them worms." I told her that cats/kittens get worms when their babies cause of the mothers milk, and if they ingest a flea while grooming them selfs....and then she goes and tells me that i "Think i know everything" anyways...because we bought all this canned food she calls me and my mother stupid for wasting our money on it...She feeds her cat just hard food and water all day....i suppose she thinks i should feed mine that way too, no way. Sorry for the long writing, is it true that soft food gives cats worms?
